Quinta de Couselo

En Quinta Couselo nuestra principal labor es preservar y mantener viva la herencia recibida de nuestros antepasados. Tenemos la suerte de trabajar en una de las fincas de mayor historia de toda GALICIA Y creemos en una de las más hermosas. Tenemos documentada la primera cosecha en el año 1864, pero la tradición vitivinícola viene de mucho antes cuando la propiedad pertenecía al monasterio Cisterciense de OIA.

Nuestra zona, el Rosal, se encuentra en el suroeste de GALICIA, en el noroeste de la península Ibérica (justo encima de Portugal). Esta zona tiene uno de los climas más benignos para el cultivo de la vid de la península. La sabiduría de nuestros mayores nos ha mostrado que las variedades mejor adaptadas a este clima, influenciado fundamentalmente por el Atlántico, son las autóctonas blancas: Albariño, Caiño blanco y Loureiro.

Intentamos mantener los usos y costumbres tradicionales en el cultivo, manteniendo los “suelos vivos “, aportando sólo abonos orgánicos y manteniendo siempre una cobertura vegetal en nuestros viñedos; no puede haber viñedos sanos sin suelos vivos. Buscamos que el carácter de nuestra tierra se refleje en nuestros vinos, en su frescura, limpieza y equilibrio, nuestros vinos quieren hablar de paisajes verdes, de la brisa del mar y de la naturaleza con honestidad. Nos gustaría que nuestros vinos tuvieran el poder evocador de trasladar una porción del paisaje de esta zona privilegiada de las Rías Baixas que es el Rosal a sus copas.

At Quinta Couselo our main task is to preserve and keep alive the heritage received from our ancestors. We are lucky enough to work on one of the most historic farms in all of Galicia and we believe in one of the most beautiful. We have documented the first harvest in the year 1864, but the winemaking tradition comes from much earlier when the property belonged to the Cistercian monastery of OIA.

Our area, the Rosal, is located in the southwest of GALICIA, in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula (just above Portugal). This area has one of the most benign climates for the cultivation of vines on the peninsula. The wisdom of our elders has shown us that the varieties best adapted to this climate, influenced mainly by the Atlantic, are the native white varieties: Albariño, Caiño blanco and Loureiro.

We try to maintain the traditional uses and customs in the cultivation, keeping the "living soil", providing only organic fertilizers and always keeping a vegetal cover in our vineyards; there cannot be healthy vineyards without living soil. We look for the character of our land to be reflected in our wines, in their freshness, cleanliness and balance. Our wines want to talk about green landscapes, the sea breeze and nature with honesty. We would like our wines to have the evocative power of transferring a portion of the landscape of this privileged area of the Rías Baixas that is the Rosal to your glasses.
