Wine Story

Gurrieri’s history is rooted in a deep family passion for Sicilian viticulture. Giovanni and Angela, inspired by their parents Vincenzo and Graziella, have continued their family’s tradition of grape cultivation. Since 2010, they have produced grapes, wine, and oil in Chiaramonte Gulfi, Ragusa, aiming to create wines that embody their homeland’s identity.

Located in the Iblei Mountains within the fertile Val di Noto and Cerasuolo di Vittoria, the only Sicilian DOCG area, Giovanni began modern wine production on 3.2 hectares of family land and expanded by renting an additional 3 hectares. Transitioning from family use to a niche business, they produce about 3,000 bottles per label, highlighting the agricultural heritage of Ragusa.

The family collaborates to produce Sicilian DOCG and IGT wines, cultivating organically with a focus on native grape varieties like Nero d’Avola, Frappato, and Grillo, and the internationally recognized Syrah. Vincenzo, known as Don Vicè, remains active in the vineyards, while Graziella manages administrative tasks.

Their wines reflect the rural tradition and pristine nature of the Iblei Mountains. The vineyards are organically cultivated on clay-rich, calcareous soils, which add complexity and richness. The Mediterranean climate, with significant temperature variations, enhances the grapes' vigor and unique flavors.

Gurrieri wines are crafted from meticulously selected grapes, harvested by hand, gently handled, and precisely vinified. They mature in wooden barrels or steel tanks and age further in bottles to develop their full potential. Gurrieri wines are known for their enveloping flavors, character, and elegance.
